This book is really well written. I especially liked the descriptions of the magic bookshop The Wishing Shelf, and the mystical land of Eternus. If you love magic and loopy monsters and are excited by flying carpets and talking books, then I think you'll love this book. I know I had great fun writing it. Anyway, have fun and look out for the sequel, Articulus Quest, which will be out later next year.
Just finished Galibrath's Will and it's really great. I loved the old bookshop called The Wishing Shelf and all the talking books. Al the imp is really funny and the evil goblin called Banks is quite scary.

Handpicked books for children
I thought it would be just a childrens book but I found it to be very imaginative and well written. I found this book quite enchanting. Its opening chapter could possibly lead you to believe that this is just another "kid finds an old magic book and learns to be a wizard" type of tale, but you would be very wrong.
Felicity's story is quite different. Galibrath's Will is a tale full of suspense and adventure as young Felicity finds herself caught up in serious sibling rivalry over the possession of Articulus - an extremely powerful and dangerous book. A book that calls slyly to Felicity, trying to convince her to set it free. Trapped by her desire to protect kind brother Galibrath's shop - The Wishing Shelf - from wicked brother Tantalus, Felicity battles giants, evil goblins, lumbering dorfmorons and dopey puffdolts. Aided by an elderly magic carpet yes - they ARE real! When Tantalus holds an auction to sell Articulus, it becomes clear the book has ideas of its own as to who should own it, despite what is written in Galibrath's Will.
Felicity knows she must track the book down before someone releases its evil potential. With fast-flowing prose and wonderful humour, Galibrath's Will is one of those rare gems - a children's book that connects perfectly with adults and children alike. I can heartily recommend it. Young Felicity Brady, hired to clean a dusty bookstore owned by the wizard Galibrath, is about to embark on the adventure of her life.
Felicity Brady and the Wizard's Bookshop: Books by Billy Bob Buttons
Talking books; an imp who serves very strange teas; a clock that alters the time of day; a "never-ending junk room" that refills itself; flying carpets; and a goblin who wears designer clothes all seem perfectly believable as this imaginative tale unfolds. The characters and action scenes engaged my imagination from the start, and pulled me to read "just one more chapter" long past bedtime.
As I was reading, I longed to see the beautiful page design and and pen-and-ink illustrations that made these classics so memorable. I reluctantly deducted one star for amateur formatting, overuse of clip art, and deficient proofreading, but overall I enjoyed the book very much and would highly recommend it for children of all ages. This beautifully presented story sweeps readers away on a magic carpet ride of magical adventures. Wonderfully imaginative; a hocus pocus of wizards, imps, puffdolts and dorfmorons. The Wishing Shelf is so much more than a bookshop of talking books - it's a gateway to other lands. Children will readily identify with the heroine, Felicity Brady, as she's a normal girl except she's thrust into extraordinary circumstances some funny, others scary. Brimming with funny and quirky details this story is a delight to read.
Join Felicity Brady on her enthralling adventure, beginning in a dusty bookstore run by a wizard whose customers are anything but garden variety! Hired to work in the shop alongside a good-natured imp with a fondness for unusual teas, Felicity is caught in the middle of a long-standing feud between her new boss, Galibrath, and his greedy brother, Tantalus.

Penned in fanciful prose, the author has created an enchanting world filled with hideous puffdolts, clever spindlysloths, devious goblins and friendly gargoyles. His whimsical storytelling held my attention and didn't let go for a moment. So curl up with a cup of hedgehog bristle tea, and take a wild ride with Felicity on a flying carpet through the exciting land of Eternus, where anything can happen. You won't regret it! Although I'm well above the intended age group, I really enjoyed Buttons' imaginative environments, and found that the plot and my desire to explore Felicity Brady's world made it a fast read.

It occurred to me that this would be the kind of story you could build a theme park around, with its romantic, Victorian atmosphere and witty, unique characters, mixed with Fantasy-packed action. Buttons has a lot of humor that would resonate with both young people and adults. I could certainly give this to an older child who likes to read, and I'm interested to see what Buttons comes up with next. See all 10 reviews.
